Breast Enlargement - Cosmetic Surgery

Breast enlargement surgery entails inserting an implant behind the natural breast tissue to increase the breast size. Breast augmentation is a similar procedure to breast enlargement surgery but is usually conducted to create a more symmetrical look.

Breast Enlargement surgery is considered to be relatively minor but it is a very effective cosmetic operation; carried out by inserting the most modern high quality implants anyone can easily achieve their desired breast size.

The breast enlargement operation is carried out with a general anesthetic. The breast enlargement operation with silicone implants, started in the early 60s, and is thought to be one of the safest cosmetic surgeries. Since then millions of women have had silicone implants and reactions to implants have been well researched over the years. It is possible to have a reaction to an implant, but these reactions and rejection are very rare, but it is always a risk that comes with cosmetic surgery.

Silicone breast implants are soft and aren’t easily detected by touching the breast. It is important to realize that patients can still breast feed, and carry out all the normal medical examinations, because the implant is placed bellow the breast muscle.

Rumours that silicone breast implants used in breast enlargement surgery cause breast cancer but are not true - silicone has is used in a lot of ways in medicine, such as heart valves, pacemakers, skin creams and dummies for children; it is known to be the best material for making many kinds of implants for use in the human body.

In order to insert the silicon breast implant into the breast an incision is made in the armpit, near the nipple or underneath the breast. These locations are picked specifically to eliminate the chances of very visible scarring. The results of breast enlargement surgery are noticeable straight away.

Breast enlargement patients are usually home within 24 hours of their breast enlargement, and are usually back at work within 7 – 10 days; however heavy lifting should be avoided for a month after surgery.
