Arm Lift - Cosmetic Surgery Procedure
Arm lift surgery is also known as a brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove excess fat and loose skin from the upper arm. As people age, upper arm skin can become soft and hangs when arms are raised. Sagging skin on the upper arms is usually caused from weight gain – the skin has to stretch in order to have room for the increase in fatty tissues; if the excess weight is then lost, the skin of the upper arms often fails to tighten.
In some cases the effects of an arm lift can be achieved by liposuction, but in most cases an arm lift is necessary to remove the left over skin in the upper arms. Liposuction is really only a better option when there is a lot of fat on the arms, but the skin is tight. If your problem is due to loose skin an arm lift is the only option.
As with all cosmetic surgery procedures there will be scarring; in most cases of an arm lift operation, scars extend from the armpit to the elbow, on the inside of the arm.
Ther arm lift surgery exchanges the cosmetic problem of loose skin for the problem of visible scars. Overall, those with very loose skin are more likely to find this substitute worthwhile. Those with a small amount of looseness will probably not want the scars.
