Breast Reduction - Cosmetic Surgery
Large breasts can rule a woman's appearance and make simple daily chores painful to do. Breast reduction surgery is a procedure for reshaping and reducing very large breasts surgically to increase comfort. Large breasts can have a significant affect on self-confidence. Breast reduction surgery will give you smaller breasts that are in proportion with your body.
The most common procedure of the breast reduction operation involves an anchor-shaped cut that circles the nipple and goes down in a vertical line, then following the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast. Excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed and the nipples and remaining underlying tissues are then moved to a higher location. The skin from both sides of the breast is then brought down and around the nipple and joined to form the new breast shape.
Breast reduction surgery has come along way and now very little scarring can be seen and women can wear low tops without being concerned.
Breast reduction surgery is carried out under a general anesthetic and patients are usually home within 24 hours of their breast reduction. After 14 days the stitches can be removed by a GP. Patients can usually go back at work within 7 – 14 days; however heavy lifting should be avoided for a month after surgery.
