Breast Lift Surgery - Cosmetic Surgery
As they get older many women find that their breasts begin to drop a little. Weight loss, pregnancy and breastfeeding can also make a difference on the appearance of the breasts. A breast lift or mastopexy, is an operation to lift breasts.
Breast lift operations are to put sagging breasts back to their ‘normal’ position. Breast enlargement can also be done at the same time as this operation.
Breast lift operations are carried out under general anesthetic, usually using the vertical incision technique because it leaves the least scaring. Classic surgery leaves big scars on the breasts. With the vertical incision technique, the incisions are at the edge of the nipple and barely visible.
Breast lift patients are usually home within 24 hours of their breast lift, and are usually back at work within 7 – 14 days; however heavy lifting should be avoided for a month after surgery.
During the breast lift operation, excess skin is removed from around nipple and sometimes from under the breasts. This creates a tighter cone of breast tissue and your nipple is moved to a higher position to give a younger and firmer look.
